Bikeability Level 3 Cycle Training

Redland Green School offers year 7 students the opportunity to take part in Bikeability level 3 cycle training.  This is a Government-supported scheme designed to give students the skills required to cycle safely on the road.  For more information, click here and to watch a short film about what the training involves, click here

The training is FREE of charge and is delivered, in groups of 6 trainees, by two fully accredited National Standard cycle instructors.  It comprises three 2-hour sessions which take place during school hours.  The first session includes a bike and skills check and will then move straight to level 2 road skills.  If the bike is found not to be road-worthy at this stage, the student will need to book onto a following course once the bike has been fixed.

Once level 2 training is complete, and level 2 skills are judged to be good, trainees will split into two groups and tackle level 3 advanced road skills, including roundabouts, traffic lights and complex road situations.

In order to take part, students  MUST:

A cycle helmet is not compulsory but Bristol City Council strongly recommends wearing a correctly fitted helmet.  The student does not have to have taken part in level 2 training at their primary school as this will be included as part of this course.

The school will offer a number of courses throughout the academic year.  If you wish to enrol your child onto a course, please download the form below, complete and sign it and return it to main reception for the attention of Mrs Millman.  Places will be allocated in the order that forms are received and we will contact you with course dates and further information to allow you plenty of time to prepare for the training.
