North Bristol Post 16 Centre Results: Bucking the National Trend of a Dip in the Top Grades!

Congratulations to the students of North Bristol Post 16 Centre who continue to buck the national trends!

North Bristol Post 16 Centre is based on two sites, Cotham School and Redland Green School, and this year the Centre has defied national trends because students have achieved more A/A* grades, rather than the dip nationally.  Across the Centre an amazing 35% of students achieved A/A* grades, compared to 26.3% nationally. Of these grades a stunning 13% were the prestigious A* grade brought in recently to stretch the most able students.  At both learning communities, Cotham and Redland Green, it is clear the most able students are motivated, taught and challenged to achieve to the very best of their abilities. At the North Bristol Post 16 Centre it is definitely not the situation feared by Michael Wilshaw, Chief inspector for Ofsted, that very able students are not sufficiently stretched.

Outstanding information advice and guidance, has ensured students make the most appropriate choices and complete highly effective UCAS applications, which has led to nearly all of our students achieving their first choices at universities. Nearly 40% achieved at least ABB in subjects, which qualified them to take up places at the Russell group universities, although some of our students have chosen to pursue other competitive courses in excellent universities or take up apprenticeships or work with training. The North Bristol Post 16 Centre is a collaboration that provides all that is the very best in comprehensive education.
