Christmas Market a Great Success!

A group of Year 13 students raising money for their charity expedition to Nepal organised a Christmas Market at school to help raise funds. It was the first market to be held at the school and was a huge success, raising over £1,000 for the expedition with more than 300 people visiting.

The team are raising funds so they can work on a very important community project making worthwhile and sustainable improvements at a deprived Nepalese school, as well as experience trekking in the beautiful Himalayas.

The market was held on Saturday, 12 December 2009 from 10.00am to 3.00pm. There were 24 different stalls selling a wide range of goods including jewellery; personalised cotton shopping bags; handmade chocolates and other yummy goodies; photography; handmade leather goods; Christmas hampers and vintage-style crafts. In addition, to provide suitably festive surroundings, members of the Redland Green Community Chorus sung carols.

The Christmas market was so successful that another one is already being planned for next year to help raise funds for the next expedition - to Vietnam and Cambodia in July 2011. If you would like to be a stall holder or help out at the market next year, please contact Miss Roberts (Expedition Leader/Teacher of Biology).
