Everest Event a Success!

Thirteen intrepid Year 13 adventurers will be embarking on an expedition of a lifetime to Nepal over the Easter 2010 break. The team of explorers are totally dedicated to their fundraising and have already lined up an impressive range of events. One of which was an Everest Evening with Mike Trueman who has led over twenty Himalayan expeditions including four to Everest. This was held on Tuesday, 29 September 2009.

The evening was a huge success with around one hundred people coming along and the students raising £650. Feedback from the evening was that Mike Trueman was an excellent speaker and the audience felt as though they had been on a journey with Mike and learnt not only about his experiences, but also about his fellow travellers, the Sherpas and the Mountain itself.

A highlight of the evening was when Mike told the story of how he made news headlines and the front page in 1996 after co-ordinating a rescue on Everest by phoning his wife who was living in Japan! He used her to initiate a rescue mission!
