Harriet Castor, Acclaimed Author Visits RGS

19 April 2012

Harriet visited RGS and talked to a group of sixty Year 7 and Year 8 students in The Vista about writing and how she came to write her book on the young Tudor Henry VIII called 'VIII'. This is what, Kate, Yasmin and Luke, three students who attended her talk had to say;-
  • 'Harriet Castor was really enthusiastic and inspiring about writing. She had had her first book published at the age of twelve and told us she had written nearly 40 books before writing 'VIII''.
  • 'She displayed a wide historical knowledge - we loved her 'inspiration board' for Henry VIII.'
  • 'Harriet was really witty, confident and engaging to listen to and we felt she promoted her book well.'
If you want to find out more about Harriet Castor please go to We have copies of her book 'VIII' in the library to borrow.

"...I would love to come back [to RGS] at some point - thank you so much. I had a fantastic time at Redland and was very grateful for your warm welcome. Thank you!"
