The Big Pedal, 7 – 25 March 2011

Monday, 7 March

Today marks the beginning of the Big Pedal, a national cycling competition that aims to get as many staff, students and parents/carers as possible cycling to school and work. Darren McKimm, Vice Chair of Governors, and Mr Bailey, Subject Leader of PE, have entered the school into the Big Pedal in order to encourage us all to cycle to school/work over the next three weeks. But in order to have a good chance of winning this competition we need your help!

We need to keep a record of every student who cycles to school and every parent/carer who cycles to work, so if you regularly cycle to school or work, or want to cycle over the next three weeks, please make sure that we know about it! Each mentor group has a dedicated ‘cycle champion’ who will keep a tally of how many people cycle over the next three weeks and Mr Bailey will log our results on the official Big Pedal website. You’ll be able to see where Redland Green is placed for each stage of the race on the website.

The more cycling journeys to school... ...the faster our school will move in the virtual race... ...and the higher our finishing position will be! Come on…let’s get pedalling!
