Library News: End of Year Arrangements

A big thank you to students (and parents!) who have got books back to us already. All library books need to be returned by Thursday, 16 July.

Year 11

Many students have returned books, however we still have a significant number outstanding. Please can parents remind students that all books must be returned by the end of term. Students returning to RGS for Post 16 are reminded that they will be unable to borrow ANY resources until KS4 textbooks and/or library books are returned.

Books over the Summer Holidays

Library books are only issued out over the summer holidays in exceptional circumstances.

Bristol City Libraries

Students may not have access to our library over the summer but  can I remind students that Bristol Library Service has an amazing range of books, DVDs, audio books, downloadable audio books and e-books that you can borrow and I would strongly encourage you to use this great resource.
If you do not belong to the Bristol Library Service it is very easy to do (however students under 15 will need to get an parent to sign the joining form). I have an information sheet on the Learning Resource Centre Main Desk on Bristol Library Services if anyone would like information to take home.

A reminder also for parents who have younger children that 'The Summer Reading Challenge' will be running in all city libraries from 11 July to 12 September. The theme for this year is 'Record Breakers'

Children read six books over the summer, and earn a fantastic 'Record Breakers' medal and certificate. Just pop into your local library to pick up your free Record Breakers starter pack and smelly stickers.
The Reading agency also has a great website for the Summer Reading Challenge that is definitely worth a look at.

....What Next?

We are already planning events for the coming academic year and information about them will given in the September Bulletins.

Can I take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy holiday and I look forward to hearing about what you have been reading in September - and hopefully you will have some great recommendations for books to buy for the LRC.
