Meet Redland Green Students ‘on the Bridge’

Recently Redland Green students celebrated International Women's Day with a number of events throughout the day. Students wanted to mark the day because throughout the world, women's achievements throughout history are celebrated and acknowledged and they wanted to support women’s equality and advancement.

The school invited students, staff and school visitors, both women and men, to "join us on the bridge" at break-time (10.45am - 11.05am) to show their support and celebrate the day with us.

A group of Year 10 girls organised this event to coincide with the international “join me on the bridge” campaign, where men and women gather on a bridge at a certain time to celebrate the day and unite in taking a stand for peace and women’s equality. More information about the event can be found at http://joinmeonthebridge.org/.

The Redland Green choir ‘VOX’ were involved in making the event 'musical' and the girls organised a badge-making session where students and staff were invited to make a badge to wear on International Women's Day, which proudly displayed either an inspirational woman or a quotation from an inspirational woman, including our very own Headteacher, Ms Baker!

We also had a special guest visiting us on International Women’s Day, Nancy Atkinson-Turner. She is a journalist for the Huffington Post and owner of Macchina, a high-end car owners' club. She brought with her an amazing Porsche Rocket car (see the pictures in the photo gallery below!)
