Musicians! Come and get involved in Music in School!
There are many opportunities to develop your musical skills in school this year, so why not come along and get involved?
We have all-new string, brass and woodwind ensembles (see the extra-curricular timetable for more details) and choirs and JamPod sessions for those of you who just want to rock out on a lunchtime!
Tell me more?
String Ensemble: The acclaimed cellist Jane Jewel leads this exciting new group. She is an exciting and dynamic leader and, with the rehearsals on a Thursday before school, it is guaranteed to wake you up and set you in a great mood for the day! The ensemble is open to all string players.
Woodwind Ensemble: Do you play a woodwind instrument and want to develop your skills further? Come along to the exciting new woodwind ensemble, led by Richard Barnard. In its early stages last year, the group were really successful in their performances and students said how much they enjoyed the group. It is guaranteed to be a great time for you, so come along and get involved!
Brass Ensemble: If you are a brass player in school, you really should get involved. Whether you play the trumpet or trombone, this group is for you. Meeting every Wednesday lunchtime in 4B2.
Senior Choir: Aimed at students who are of a higher standard of singing and music reading, the Senior Choir is led by Ms Dixon every Tuesday lunchtime. We will be singing a wide repertoire, which will challenge and develop the voices of any keen and committed singer. Open to students in Year 10 and above.
VOX: The ever-popular, “internationally acclaimed” VOX is back this year with a bang! For the first time, it is open to Year 7 students. VOX is a pop choir that encourages all singers of all abilities to get involved. If you like singing and want to meet new friends, this is the group for you.
JamPod JamTime: New for Term 2, JamPod JamTime is for students wishing to improve on their JamPod instruments, for small bands to rehearse or individuals who just want to rock out during lunchtime. Open every Thursday lunchtime, students will need to use the sign up sheet that will be displayed in the Music Department after half term.
