Redland Green School

RGS Bristol

New School, New Term, New Subject!

Year 7 students are starting Redland Green School this year as pioneers of a brand new subject, Achieving Personal Excellence (APEX).  For this new curriculum course they will be building portfolios of evidence for ASDAN’s CoPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness) qualification, which is equivalent to a B grade at GCSE.

The aim of the programme is to enable students to understand themselves and others better and to become more prepared for making the transition to adult life.

Personal and social competence is a crucial factor in maximising opportunities for life-long learning and in becoming an effective member of adult society. To this end, the course focuses students on developing their Personal Learning and Thinking Skills, as well as helping them develop into confident, articulate young people who are able to manage the demands of a teenage life.

Already they are showing they are becoming great team workers, creative thinkers and independent, reflective learners.
