RGS Student has Olympic Ambitions...

At 15 years old, Ibrahim, a Year 10 student at Redland Green School, has already achieved highly in the world of fencing. Earlier this year he travelled to Paris to compete in the Marathon Fleuret, the biggest under 15’s fencing competition in the world. Ibrahim performed really well coming in 29th place out of 450 boys and girls. Last year Ibrahim also competed in the British Under 14 Championships and he achieved second place.

Ibrahim is a member of the Bristol Fencing Club, based in Cotham, training there twice a week, in addition to training once a week at the South West Centre of Excellence, at Redmaids. This dedication is serving him well and will set him up for his future ambitions, which include making it on to the GB under 17’s team in two years, as well as entering the World and European Championships for Under 17’s. His ultimate aim though is to represent Great Britain in the 2016 Olympics.

Ibrahim stated “ I really like fencing because it is a technical sport with lots of aspects to it. It’s interesting, dynamic and quick”.
