Redland Green School Celebrates the Success of Year 7 and Year 8 Students
Celebration evening report written by Mollie and Zoe, Year 11 reporters.
The Year 7 and Year 8 celebration evening was a new venture for Redland Green School, in an effort to unite parents, students and teachers to appreciate the high quality of work the students had been producing over the first two terms of this academic year.
Students and teachers had a chance to set up stalls displaying the best work that had been produced and students also manned the stalls so they were also able to explain to parents what work they had been doing and what they had been studying.
The street was lined with brightly coloured stalls. The English department had talking statues (students dressed as our favourite book characters, explaining to parents about sentence structure). The Drama department had a short production going on in the street. Science held a competition where 4 groups of students spoke about their ideas on renewable energy and PE had the Year 8 boys performing gymnastics, exploring the idea of 'flight'. And perhaps the hightlight of the evening was the VOX choir performing 'You Can't Stop the Beat' from the musical Hairspray, at the end of the night.
Everywhere you looked you could see parents and students getting involved with stalls and enjoying the candyfloss and popcorn and the fun activities for all. Overall, it was a completely successful evening!
