Download the Sports Day Programme

Our whole school Sports Day will be held on Thursday, 12 July at the school’s Kellaway Avenue Sports Ground.

Students will be at the Sports Ground for the whole of the day; from registration at 8.30am to a normal school finish time of 3.05pm. All students are expected to remain on the Sports Ground site for the whole day. In the event of bad weather we will use Friday, 13 July as a reserve date.

Students will be expected to make their own way to Kellaway Avenue in time for registration and will need to be collected or arrangements made for them to make their own way home at 3.05pm. Students will be sat on the floor when supporting; they may bring reasonably sized blankets/ground sheets; students should not bring chairs.

All students are encouraged to take part in the day which will include heats as well as finals. Students should wear their RGS PE kit for the entirety of the day. As students will be outside all day they must be prepared for the extremes of weather that can occur: sun hat and sun cream and a waterproof jacket are essential. Students may also wear an additional item of clothing in their house colour i.e. hat, scarf, jumper, face paint, etc.

Ducks – Green

Geese – Yellow

Larks – Red

Warblers – Blue

If a student is unable to attend on the day due to sickness please either email student- absence@redlandgreen.bristol.sch.uk or phone the student absence line (0117 3533190) before 8.30am in the usual way, providing a reason for the absence.

Light refreshments will be available to buy throughout the day and cash will be required for these purchases. Students should bring their own packed lunch and plenty of water; water bottles can be refilled throughout the day. Students who receive free school meals will need to notify the school reception to request a packed lunch, which will be provided by the school.

Parents and carers are invited to attend and watch the events from the viewing area on the pavilion roof. Please use the main entrance to the sports ground site on Kellaway Avenue and sign-in with a member of staff when you arrive.

Due to the size of the event we are no longer able to run the 800m and 1500m races on Sports Day. These events will take place on Monday, 9 July at 2.05pm at Kellaway Avenue. Students will be transported to Kellaway during lunchtime. Students will be expected to make their own arrangements to get home from Kellaway at the end of the school day 3.05pm

We look forward to a superb day of mass participation and sporting excellence.
