Reminder about Student Absence

Dear Parents/Carers,

Student Absence

I would like to remind all parents and carers of the new Student Absence email  Any student absence must be notified to the school with as much notice as possible.

Any absence for your child must be notified either to the Student Absence line on 0117 353 3190 or the Student Absence email.  In your message, please state your child’s name, year group, mentor group, reason for absence, date of the absence and expected date of return.

For safeguarding reasons, if we do not receive a message through either of these two channels you will receive a text asking for an explanation for your child’s absence. Thank you for your co-operation.

When the absence relates to illness, you should contact school before 8.30am on the first day, and every subsequent day, of their absence.

Medical Appointments

If your child will be arriving late or leaving school during the day we must be notified of the appointment using the Student Absence line or email.  Your message must clearly state the time they are expected to return to school or the time they need to leave together with the reason.  If they need to leave school please state whether they will be collected from Reception or you have given your permission for them to leave school alone.  All students who leave school during the day must sign out at Main Reception and sign back in on their return.

Students will be marked unauthorised if we have not been informed of the appointment prior to them needing to leave school

Other absence not illness/medical appointments

For any absence request that is not for illness or medical appointments you must complete a Student Absence Request Form.  These can be downloaded from our website or a paper copy can be collected from Main Reception.  Once completed, these should be handed in to Main Reception, with a minimum of 10 working days notice, marked Student Absence or e-mailed to for the Deputy Headteacher to approve.

Please remember, if your child will be absent from school for any reason please email or call 0117 353 3190.

Many thanks

Mrs Dicks
