Rotary Young Chef Update

On Monday, 12 November Redland Green School hosted the annual North Bristol heat of the Rotary Young Chef competition. Redland Green students Ben and Ella (Year 9) competed against students from QEH, Henbury and St. Bedes for a place in the regional round.
Judging this year on behalf of the Clifton Rotary Club were Mr Toby Gritten of The Pump House Restaurant and The bird in the Hand, Long Ashton with Mr Nicholas Manchematin, a visiting French Sous Chef who has worked within a Michelin star rated restaurant. Both judges found the standard to be extremely high and remarked on the ambitious nature of menu choices.
After some deliberation the results came in with Alex of QEH in 3rd place. Our very own internal heat winner Ben took the 2nd prize and going through to the next round, RGS's Ella took 1st place!
Both Ella and Ben performed extremely consistently and professionally throughout. Well done, you have done RGS proud! We wish Ella all the best when she competes in the next round, next year.
