Rotary Youth Speaks Competition

Following their success in the Local Heats of the Rotary "Youth Speaks" competition, our Intermediate Public Speaking Team proceeded to the District Heats on 6 February. The competition was held in Maisemore, Gloucester.

The team were: Chairperson – Ellie, Speaker – Siena, and Proposer of the Vote of Thanks – Kai.

The team’s choice of topic: “Should 16 year olds be given the vote?” developed detailed and thought-provoking ideas into a strong argument, and their thorough preparation, excellent delivery and highly-supportive teamwork led the team to a nail-biting victory over very stiff competition. The students will now go on to the Regional Final in Wolverhampton in April. Congratulations!

“This is the second year in succession that a Redland Green team has won the local and district finals to reach the Regional Final. Your pupils performed magnificently on Saturday in a very high quality competition. Their confidence and the quality of their speaking were exceptional and indeed had to be to outshine the other teams.”
