Rotary Young Chef Competition 2010

The heat was turned up recently at Redland Green School as nine mini-master chefs battled it out in the first stages of the Rotary Young Chef Competition 2010, a national cooking competition for secondary school students.

The competition was fierce as students demonstrated their flare for food by planning and producing a two course healthy meal for one person, with a maximum budget of £7.00. The students had just 30 minutes to set up and a maximum of one and a half hours for preparing, cooking and serving the meal.

Over 40 menus were submitted of which eight students successfully made it through to the internal heat. The competition was judged on planning, taste, flare and presentation by Ms Baker, Mr Maule and Mr Norris.  The winners will go forward to represent Redland Green School in the Clifton Rotary Club heat against Redmaids School, Redland High School and Cotham School.
