Students Cook up a Treat in 2010/11 Rotary Young Chef Competition

Redland Green School was delighted to recently host another successful round of the annual Rotary Young Chef Competition.  Redland Green School entered two competitors to the 2010/11 competition; Harry, Year 9 and Mee Mee, Year 10.

Harry’s culinary creation included a main course of oven baked Pollock with a parmesan crust served with homemade tartar sauce, new potatoes, green salad and a lemon dressing. He made a delicious dessert of meringue with raspberries and fruit compote.

The Winning Menu

Mee Mee cooked up a real treat with her menu of lamb cutlets with a potato rosti and a pea and mint puree. Her dessert was an ambitious layered Black Forest gateau.

Mee Mee's Menu

This year the competition was of an impressively high standard. The competitors ranged in age from Year 9 to Year 12. Harry and Mee Mee were competing against students from Redmaids and QEH, with all competitors demonstrating excellent cooking skills and organisation.

In the end, there could be only one winner and that person was Harry who walked away with the prize money and a place in the regional round of the national competition. Second place was awarded to Rachel from Redmaids and third place was given to Alex from QEH. Well done to all the winners.

A big well done and thank you must also be given to Harry and Mee Mee for being wonderful ambassadors and representing RGS so well.
