Support our DofE Students...

Would you like to Support the UK’s Largest DofE Group in a State School?

If so RGS is looking for a support network of parents to help us run the Duke of Edinburgh's Award next year (2012-13) for our current Year 9's. You do not need any particular expertise though if you do that would be valued. We only ask that you have a passion for the outdoors.

The DofE is currently split into 2 groups: A and B. Each group participates on the following activities:

  • Bush-craft (usually in Leigh Woods)
  • 1 day training (usually in the Mendips)
  • 2 day practice (usually in the Marlborough Downs)
  • 2 day assessment (usually in the New Forest)

Fully trained and experienced staff run all the activities and therefore they hold the responsibility for our students. However we still look to have staff and parent support, which the students have really enjoyed and valued.

If this is something you would be interested in then we can also support you by training you in a variety of skills to help us.

  1. Midas Training - so you can drive a minibus
  2. CRB Check - so we can safeguard all our students
  3. First Aid - so you are happy to help in any situation

So if you are interested in helping please contact the school with the following information. Dates will be confirmed later.

A: Name

B: Parent of (we will try to have you with a group not involving your child)

C: Any experience or qualifications you already have

D: Area you would support us (Driving a minibus, Support staff, First Aid)

E: Type of activity/ies you would help with (see above)

Thank You, and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Miss E Waldon
