Supporting Students’ Language at Redland Green: Sharing Good Practice

The Learning Support team at Redland Green secondary school is committed to developing the quality of support for students with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). The team is currently undertaking Elklan Secondary Language Builders; a nationally recognised training that is accredited through the Open College Network. Elklan aims to equip staff with the knowledge and strategies they need to develop learning and communication skills in the students they support. Licensed trainers teach the course from the Learning Improvement Team who have specialist knowledge and qualifications in children’s language impairment.

During the sessions the Redland Green team have been sharing the strategies they already use to help students. Bristol City Council thought their approaches were so good they just had to be shared in their newsletter! We have included their top tips below!
