Well Done to Matthew, Year 9, for his Cycling Achievements

With the cycle racing season still on going Matthew, Year 9 (Brent), in his first year of competive cycling has achieved some great results. He is currently in 14th Place in the National rankings for the under 14 boys and the top rider in the Southern Region. His training has seen him cycle in excess of 4000 miles since the start of the year.

His most impressive National performance to date was his 7th place in the fifth stage of the North West Youth Tour in May, where he came 10th overall - he was up against the top 80+ riders in the country. Matthew's road racing season is just about over - just one race to do - The southern region championship - which if he regains his early summer form he should stand a good chance of winning. The race is being held on the new circuit at Odd Down in Bath on 14 September.

His next major target is to represent the South region at the National school games in 2015 - then Rio!

Off the bike he recently helped marshall at the local Great Weston Ride - fundraising for Prostate Cancer. He also helped with supporting riders in a sponsored cycle ride to Glastonbury fundrasing for the teenage cancer trust in memory of Ella Redman -
