World Champion Hurdler Visits Redland Green School

On Thursday, 22 March 2012, Dai Greene, 2011 400m Hurdling World Champion visited Year 10, Year 11 and Post 16 students at Redland Green School.

In 2011, Dai proved himself to be the one to beat and catapulted himself into the spotlight as one of Britain's biggest hopefuls for London 2012. As an athlete he has massive confidence and belief, something that intimidates his competitors and he puts this down to his dedication, believing that the hard work is what gives him that edge.

Dai delivered a highly interactive workshop on training methods & principles of training, including diet, to our Year 10 and Year 11 students. This was a really fascinating session for the students. Then for our Post 16 students, Dai talked to them about more specialised training methods, including Plyometrics, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretching) and periodisation, as well as injury prevention and elite performer funding.

The students at Redland Green were delighted to meet Dai and look forward to seeing him perform at the Olympics! To view a photo gallery of Dai's visit click here.
