Young Leaders: Olympic Workshops for Primary Schools

The RGS Young Leaders group have been working in local primary schools to promote the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  So far the students have been into Ashley Down Primary School where they worked with Year 6 pupils, and they have also been to Henleaze Junior School to work with Year 5 classes.

The RGS students ran Olympic themed workshops for the primary students, which involved learning about the seven Olympic and Paralympic values, as well as finding out which cities across the UK will be hosting events.  It was a very successful way to show pupils the different sports and venues that will be used during the games.

All primary students really enjoyed the experience and loved competing against other groups as an Olympic team.  The RGS students were fantastic and showed how confident they were in being able to lead and deliver the different activities.  The staff at both schools commented on how professional and mature the RGS students were and thanked them for making the effort to promote London 2012.
